I knew what I wanted to do after kindergarten. I wanted to color and play Show-n-Tell. I always knew I wanted to be an
Artist. In highschool when our assignment was to right a report on 15 different careers, I chose 15 different types of Artists!
My teacher encouraged nursing, teaching, stewardess (at the time politically appropriate), but I refused to waste my time
I what I KNEW I wouldn't do.
I exhausted my highschool art curriculum by junior year. Senior year I took specially
designed Independent Study for art each semester plus a couple of art classes at the college. Upon graduation and enrolling
into college, I learned that I would have to repeat 3 full semesters of art before going onto anything new. You could not
test out back then. So.......I moved to California and began selling pastel portraits! I became a live-in nanny to provide
for life's needs while developing a discipline for my art. I began my private portrait collection of celebrity Artists.
First, I got a portrait painting of the band, Journey autographed; next, I got a David Lee Roth portrait autographed. Afterwards,
came all four guys from U2, Robert Plant, Gregg Allman, B.B King, an unautographed Jim Morrison collage of 5 faces, George
Thorogood, Buddy Guy, Ringo Starr, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the list does continue.
I have worked in the DFW metroplex
doing many various commercial and residential wall murals and portraits as well as faux finishing and facepainting.
In
San Rafael, CA where I resided for nearly 5 years, I would look so forward to the annual Italian Street Painting Festival
that after the weekend of the festival I would comment, "Only 364 more days until the next Italian Street Painting Festival!"
I have returned to the DFW area to be near my ever-loving mother. My father passed in '04.
I am excited to pursue
the opportunity of street painting here! It is such a spectacular art.
